building ar pistol

Building Ar Pistol - You know what they say: Opinions are like ... AR-15. Everyone has one and everyone is different. There are billions of them and they are all different. With so many options for the ridiculously expensive AR-15, from really cheap to custom built, the options are endless. There are also ways to get a great AR-15 for a really good price. It's about making your own. Building a pistol around Aero Precision AR-15 upper and lower receivers is one of the best ways to do this.

The AR-15 is very easy to build and assemble yourself using the parts and components you want. It can be cheaper than an off-the-shelf, similar complete gun. This approach allows you to get more guns for less, or get the guns you want. Still, sometimes less. We call it more for our money. sorry. I couldn't resist

Show Alpha: A build based on my Aero Precision AR-15 receiver is what I consider to be near-perfect. This of course goes back to the comments part.

Ar Pistol Kit

This may be a sensitive subject for some people, but hear me out. Can you spend more money on a specific brand of parts and components? of course. Does it always spawn "better" weapons? Well, absolutely not.

At a certain point, it all comes down to the sniper. I claim my gun is more powerful than its weight and will confidently stand side by side with more expensive guns all day long. However, it should be borne in mind that prices and returns on high-end gadgets are declining. Also, the weapon will not hit the target. It's all up to you.

Over the years I have met many shooters who only believe in custom builds. It's kind of a "virtue signal" in the gun community. If they don't make their own rifles or carbines, that's not "good enough" or "true believers." Anything. I also take my Daniel Defense rifle all day. There are other great brands ready to use.

In other words, the Aero Precision AR-15 is for those who have never built a custom build because they don't have the skills or feel they can't afford it. Besides all the customization and pricing reasons, it's also for fun. And I'm satisfied.

Pros And Cons Of Building An Ar 15 Rifle

Why start my AR-15 build recommendation with an Aero Precision as the gun's mainframe? Simply put, they make great components at great prices. Of course, as we all know, there are custom parts and components that are more expensive and probably slightly better. But for what you get, the Aero Precision holds its own and you can't go wrong.

Every AR-15/M16/M4 has three main components: an upper receiver, a lower receiver, and a bolt carrier group. For this particular build, I opted for an Aero Precision AR-15 stripped lower receiver and an Aero Precision AR-15 stripped top receiver. I have now built/assembled two AR-15s with these parts and I love them both. They work great and I have no complaints.

I bought a separate kit of parts for all the little pins and hardware needed to make these major parts work. For things like little cotter pins, it doesn't matter where you get them or who makes them. Other parts, no matter how small, can still make a difference. The approach is up to you.

Aero Precision AR-15 parts are available in several configurations. You can find stripped parts where nothing else is attached. That means it needs more components to work. However, you can also find partially assembled parts of varying degrees of completeness. No matter which route you choose and how much work you want to do, Aero Precision has you covered. Finally, all parts have the same functionality required for each weapon.

Added bonus: Both upper and lower receivers are Magpul Flat Dark Earth pre-painted in Cerakote. Aero Precision has competence in this area.

Aero Precision also makes a really good BCG (Bolt Carrier Group). This is one of the most important components of any AR build. This is the part that really gets the gun going. In my military and civilian experience, really great guns make life miserable with bad BCGs.

I was lucky in my tour of Afghanistan. At least I thought so. I was issued a new Colt M4 ready to go. But… BCG and top receivers didn't like each other. The friction was very high and something was off. It sanded like sandpaper and I had to lubricate it. Sometimes it was so sticky that the bullets did not land properly when the gun was loaded for loading. No amount of work felt right or made a huge difference. class.

Aero Precision makes really good nitride BCG for a really good price. Is there a more expensive BCG? Again, the answer is yes. Are they much better? Probably not. I also have 2 of these. Both are smooth, fit well and stay inside the top receiver. I've never had a problem with them.

My First Ar Pistol Build

One of the main recommendations I would make at this point, especially with respect to BCG, is that a nitride finish on gun parts is much better and more desirable than a phosphate finish. Because they are of higher quality, they tend to cost a little more. Because nitride is softer, it is closer to "natural" lubricant qualities. This is beneficial for both corrosion resistance and smooth operation. Phosphates are not as soft and can create a bit more friction.

Another part of the AR-15 that is often taken for granted is the buffer spring. Here's a bit of knowledge to make your day fun. Aero Precision offers buffer springs and kits in a variety of weights. What does it mean?

If you don't know, a buffer is the part of a gun that absorbs the recoil after a bullet is fired. Because of this, the AR-15 has very good fire control and very little recoil. Also, heavier damper springs can absorb more recoil and are desirable depending on the type of AR-15 being built. For example, highly gassed guns (in my case, short-barreled ARs) are recommended to use heavier buffer tubes to absorb more recoil. This is desirable as the reduced weight and shorter barrel affect felt recoil and the performance of the rifle itself.

For this version, we have chosen the third largest option, the H2 buffer. I like the difference and performance of the heavier buffers. This makes the shorter stock configuration of this AR-15 design easier to manage and definitely helps get you back on target after every shot. It's a good idea to consider upgraded components to give your gun a higher quality feel.

Throwback Thursday: How To Legally Build An Ar Pistol

I made exactly the weapon I wanted for this build. I set the requirements and specs for what I wanted: a balanced trigger pull, optimal barrel length for a smaller carbine, and a shorter barrel 5.56mm AR-15 with better recoil absorption. I also wanted a specific stock, M-Lok AR-15 handguard, color, lighting, etc.

Every part, from the charging handle to the bolt release, has been considered and met these requirements. There are many options, but with a little homework, you can get a lot of guns for a little less money. It all adds up, especially since ammo is still insanely expensive these days. When building the rifle, I found the Aero Precision AR-15 parts to be a great place to start.

Handguards are made by BCM, Bravo Company USA. This is another company that makes really good components (and guns). The free-floating handguard is a solid choice over other brands and is easier to work with.

The barrels are made by Rosco Manufacturing, which makes really good barrels. It is an 11.5-inch barrel with a mil-spec 1:7-inch twist. I found the 1:7" twist better than the 1:9" especially on the shorter barrel.

With a really smooth and light 4-pound trigger pull, the Timney trigger is worth its weight in gold. And it doesn't come with a heavy gold price tag attached. I guess that means it's worth far more than its weight in gold.

The SB tactical pistol grip, Surefire Scout pistol light, Magpul stock sight and other Magpul accessories are all industry standard and not very expensive.

One of the components I really spent a lot of money on is the Aimpoint Micro T-2 red dot. It is very expensive, but one
