Here's a tactical sin...I'm using a regular belt. And by regular belt I mean a regular belt that is exceptionally tight. It's tighter than many so-called "gun belts" I've tried. I can't remember where I bought it, but I know it was made in China (it says, right on the back).

It has outlasted many other leather gun belts I own. I usually find that the adjustment holes are the first thing to go on the strap, followed by the buckle attachment point. Everything on it is still going strong after 3 years.
I also find that it is safer and more comfortable to carry a pistol and spare ammo in the appendage position with the belt buckle at 10 or 11 o'clock on the centerline of the body. This offers a smooth, uninterrupted surface for the gun material to travel on.
Statistically speaking, you will never need more than 16 rounds packed into your Glock 19. I'm a big believer in statistics, and don't think to myself that I'm going to solve any major problem with the G19 by carrying four spare magazines. That being said, I have a spare mage... because of the stats.
Jam of guns. Even Glock pistols. It's just a fact - if you shoot long enough, you're bound to experience some sort of weapon malfunction. And the majority of semi-auto stoppages have to do with ammo or magazines. I mitigate the first problem by carrying a good self-defense round. The second one is supposed to be with a spare magazine.

That's why I don't carry a spare mag because I think I'll need extra ammo. I bring this up because magazines are a common point of failure and I try to plan for common disasters. As a side note, this is a 17 round magazine originally designed for the Glock 17. Concealing it is no problem and gives me more ammo. What's not to like?
I didn't always carry spare ammo. I have yet to find a good way to carry a spare load while concealing a handgun in the appendage position. Then one day he hit me.
Looking down, I saw that the gun had made a small gash in my back, just above the slide. It seemed like a perfect place to store the magazine... but where did the covers come from? I didn't have to look far.
I had a few heavy Kydex (.125″) shell pouches available at my local gun club for some informal IDPA style matches and an ELS Safari Land Belt loaded with them. Removing one and flipping it 180 degrees at the back was a perfect solution to my backup needs. I just made a mirror image holster so the ammo points in the right direction for a weak hand reload (right).

After about a month of carrying spare ammo like this, I noticed that the gap in the bottom of the pouch would occasionally catch me out. I solved the problem with a short section of inner bike tube stretched around the mag pouch. As a bonus, this material proved to be very slip resistant and held everything in place very well.
After careful consideration, I chose to wear the Raven Vanguard II. It is nothing but a traditional heel. Instead of wrapping the entire firearm around the trigger guard. Soft loop with "pull point" locking button keeps everything secure.
It's incredibly thin - thinner than a gun, in fact - and it's relatively cheap. The hold is strong enough to keep the gun under control while running and jumping, but not strong enough to prevent a quick draw.
This is a great, comfortable and safe way to carry a gun in your appendix. But there's only one bad thing about the Raven Vanguard II - you can't quickly redo the upholstery. Well, I mean, you could, but then you'd be trying to cram a loaded gun into a tiny holster while it's pointed at some very important anatomy.

Proper use of the Vanguard II requires you to first remove the holster from your belt, install it on the gun, then clip everything back into place. In theory, you should be able to hold your gun quickly and safely and with one hand. You may need gloves for other tasks while the hazard is still present outside the immediate area.
I'm willing to sacrifice that capability to take advantage of the low profile and comfortable handling that the Vanguard II offers. Everything is a compromise in the end. This is a carry holster, not a holster for going to the range and doing tactical exercises.
One thing I really like about the Raven Vanguard II is that I can load and unload the gun while the trigger is still fully covered. Try it with a standard style heel.
The brass hook on the Vanguard II is black from the factory, but over time, the enamel wears off.

I firmly believe that dry shooting should be part of every serious shooter's daily routine. There are too many examples of how proper dry shooting improves your gun handling skills to be overlooked as a training tool.
But if you want to dry fire every day with a gun that's also your carry gun, you're faced with loading and unloading that gun all the time. Mistakes happen. Increase the number of times you perform a task - such as handling a loaded weapon - and the chances of an accident - a careless discharge - increase proportionally.

I can't think of a better general purpose pistol than the Glock 19. Small enough to hide but big enough to fight and compete with, it has been my almost constant companion on many adventures. It has been completely and naturally absorbed into my everyday carry kit over the months and years and I don't see it much more than a set of keys or a smartphone.
