Cavalry Squadron Organization - After creating the future Armor Battalion, it's time to look at the Future Armored Cavalry Squadron. Instead of breaking this up into multiple posts, we're going to dive into the deep end.
The mission of the armored cavalry squadron is to provide only the control and protection of the higher headquarters. The U.S. military has just released its Waypoint 2028 concept to return to a distributed unit, able to fight adversaries on a larger scale than ever before. The Army envisages five different formations, of which the Heavy Division and the Penetration Division are armed forces. Both were intended to be divisional cavalry squadrons.
Cavalry Squadron Organization
The return to the divisional unit of operations brought the role of the corps into strategic focus. A war in Eastern Europe, or on the Korean Peninsula, or a battlefield larger than 50 by 50 miles would require large forces. In the past, the cavalry regiment was the control and defense element of the corps. Today, a cavalry regiment is defeated by a brigade that has only a name and no skills. The WayPoint 2028 service is not fully developed in concept, so there is time to discuss and submit proposed organizations.

Both the Heavy Division and the Penetration Division were designed to fight an enemy with serious combat capabilities. Enemy forces that meet this definition come with a large armory. At the same time, it is hoped that we can move away from the energy economy as much as possible to deal with the war crisis. The resulting force on the ground requires a cavalry formation that can defend against enemy efforts to exploit weak points.
There are two main ideas behind the future armored cavalry squadron. First you need to fight for information. A squadron must be strong. In particular, each soldier must be strong enough to fight and defeat strong enemy formations. Capability and delegation must be recognized first because the war can quickly escalate as the enemy wants to complete their mission before launching airstrikes. Mission tactics have always been a cornerstone of modern warfare and organizations must keep weapons in the right hands to gain advantage.
The spread of cities around the world means that wars will rise in built-up areas, regardless of the desire for a clean and meaningless war. The scout platoon will find it necessary to enter and clear parts of buildings and parcels to improve the enemy's situation. Potentially dangerous threat to OP corrupted with hybrid threats. Urban areas also provide a means of hiding tanks from UAV observation. The fact that combat vehicles were able to continue their role in Donbas despite the proliferation of UAVs clearly shows this. People with eyes, ears and noses are essential for proper exploration of this world. However, the UAV is a valuable tool for the scout platoon.
Another consideration is the need to challenge the enemy's surveillance capabilities before they reach the protected units. Even shoestring budget terrorist organizations have UAV capabilities. Armored cavalry units must be able to engage and defeat these UAVs before they can enter the defense zone. Enemy intelligence can be an aggressive and hybrid organization. A few scouts from the platoon, with the OP in the tree line, will fail. Scouts should be able to interact with crowds and enemy formations.

Although the need to be strong in combat is important, the ability to go down should allow for longer OPs without being violated. An entire platoon is not needed for a long range OP.
The proposed future armored cavalry squadron pushes the capabilities as far as possible for line troops. Generally, an armored cavalry team consists of three armored cavalry battalions, a field artillery battery, a center force, and an advanced support company.
Each of the three battalions has two battalions, a scout battalion and a fire brigade. We'll take a look at the squad soon.
The artillery battery is the standard M109A7 Paladin battery common to all heavy formations. It has two platoons of three paladins. Extra lead is common in car batteries. The armored cavalry team requires its own battery because of the need to support the war independently of a higher headquarters, even if it is far away. Paladins provide the necessary range to support three lines of troops with indirect fire when needed.

Headquarters troops consist of three combat-ready platoons in addition to the squadron staff. The engineer platoon needs to provide the ability to reduce small obstacles as well as build obstacles. Being able to push the spy through small obstacles should be an expected feat. At the same time, the ability to create small obstacles in important areas, such as bridges or intersections, can buy a squadron the time it needs to complete a mission or patrol.
An air defense artillery battalion is a recognition that a squadron operates outside the defense canopy and performs the role of eliminating enemy assets. Without organic missiles or ADA laser protection, the squadron takes unnecessary risks. The ADA battalion requires an organic platoon to protect the division base. Additional air defense assets are in armored cavalry units.
The electronic warfare platoon is a multi-platform asset for an armored cavalry squadron. It provides strategic signals intelligence, counter-signals capabilities and strategic communications that enable the squadron to transmit information in an environment full of hostile electronic forces. Having the ability to monitor signals within the squadron allowed information to be relayed to line troops much faster than relying on rear relays.
The forward support company is similar to the current US Army format. As with the combat battalion, I moved the medical unit to the support company to separate combat forces and combat support. Another difference between the current support company and the FSC squadron of the future is that the company requires more protection. In a hybrid combat line, you will always be a target for attack, so all vehicles must be armed and the division platoon needs to put weapons on each truck.

Armored cavalry teams should be lean and mobile. The tactical operations center (TOC), forward operations center (TAC), and train command post must be armed to resist enemy weapons. They must be agile and work with a mobile mindset.
Let's go back to the armored cavalry. The military is strong, but to fight and win the war on intelligence must be. The principle of never keeping intelligence assets in storage has been advanced by many sources.
The cavalry headquarters section is the same as the Armor Battalion of the Future's Company Headquarters. Adding a mobile connected truck to the maintenance crew is even more important in distributed crew operations. The M2A3 XO team has a UAV instead of the 1SG M1283 command post. The reason for this is to allow the first sergeant of the army to focus on combat recovery and the executive officer to maintain combat intelligence assets, especially during retrograde operations.
The armored cavalry has two tank battalions. United States The tank platoon remains unchanged from the original organization used by the Army for the past forty years. Two platoons of M1A2 Abrams, plus one tank, is the equivalent of most tank companies. This strike creates an opportunity to quickly and decisively destroy enemy formations when entering the troop zone.

The US Army currently places all tanks in a squadron in a pure factory. Although this increases firepower, the main disadvantage is the travel time and air exposure required to transfer the firepower to the square. Against equal or near-equipment adversaries, travel time and exposure may be too great to conserve combat power and may force the squadron to concede too much ground to the enemy. . The purpose of the armored cavalry squadron is to maintain the ability to counter attack in order to protect the headquarters.
The armored scout platoon is better than any previously used by the US Army. Six scout car units are battle-proven, so we'll stick with that. The biggest change is the number of dismount scouts. Increasing the dismount requires switching from the M3A3 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle to the M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle (a very simple conversion.) The difference between the two is the configuration of the troop compartment. The M3A3 has a TOW window rack and more seats for two cuts. The M2A3 has fewer TOW missiles but seven seats. However, the
