Fn Scar .308 - The Special Operations Forces Combat Rifle, or SCAR for short, is a family of assault rifles made by Belgian manufacturer FN HERSTAL. The purpose of SCAR is to meet the needs of the United States Special Operations Command (US SOCOM) by providing different types of weapons while handling the same.

The SCAR family is divided into SCAR-L (light) and SCAR-H (heavy) with calibers of 5.56 × 45 mm NATO and 7.62 × 51 mm NATO. Another model is the SCAR-H PR (Precision Rifle), which is specially designed to engage targets at long distances. This includes a 20" (inch) barrel, a wide barrel, and a heavy barrel.
Unfortunately, the SCAR was not well received by US SOCOM. This is because the tension trigger moves back and forth during firing, just like Kalashnikov models. This shouldn't be a problem, but the SCAR is in an unstable position where the shooter's fingers can jam the weapon. Field tests also show that the voltage is tolerated in forested areas or in different shooting areas, for example, supported by vehicles or in cities. So, the weapon is not officially approved for normal operation. Only the Precision Rifle version of the SCAR-H has been approved by the US. Army Rangers, Green Berets, PJ (Pararescue) and Navy have been deployed in large numbers in wars in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and other covert operations.
This SCAR-L model was developed by AEG and developed in collaboration with Vega Force. It is characterized by a nylon body along with aluminum parts such as the barrel. For starters, some of the best things about the FN SCAR 16S are the larger parts. The fire selection and magazine release are large enough that I can easily use them with gloves on, and I recommend wearing them because the Scar fires very quickly.

The good news is that even after 100 tests, I haven't seen any errors, jams, or misprints, no matter how hot the weather is. I also liked that the car's detonator was big enough to fit in the gloves because they knew how hot it would get while making it.
All of these parts are designed to be ambidextrous, but they didn't bother me when I was shooting. I will say that the charger can press your fingers into the optics if you're not careful, but after the first time it wasn't a problem for me.
As for the test shooting, I fell in love. I got 2” scatter at 100 yards, and that didn’t change much at 300 or even 400 yards, even though I had to use the optic for those targets. It was then that I learned the location of the power station.
Another thing that stood out was how easy the Scar is to take apart and clean, as I was able to do it in a matter of minutes. I was also able to adjust the folding stock and cheeks to be perfectly comfortable in my shooting position and they held the adjustment the entire time.

The .223 rounds had no recoil that I noticed, mostly due to the muzzle break in the Scar. Between that and the fact that the gun is just over 7 pounds, it was easy to carry. The 4 Picatinny rails allowed me to mount and detach the holographic sight without difficulty.
I also liked the gas piston firing method as it reduced gas leaks but also reduced carbon build up so I didn't have to clean it. It works with my AR mags, but avoid using Gen II PMags as they will destroy your Scar.
One thing I don't like about the SCAR is the price, as $3,300 is too high. While you can find similar guns for less money, they don't have the same quality and longevity that this gun brings to the table. FN SCAR: Yes, worth the money...
After 100 rounds, it's no wonder military members love the FN Scar 16S tactical carbine. I personally love this over my AR, from the grip to the accuracy and maneuverability, so if you have the money, I can't recommend the Scar enough.
